While members of the senior national team would be privileged to have their wives and partners around
them during the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, the better half of Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr
would be missing.

Rohr told Sportinglife.ng that motherly duties may stop his wife, a Madagascan, from attending the global showpiece which begins next Thursday with the opening match between host nation and Saudi Arabia.

The Eagles gaffer, however, assured that other members of his family and friends would be in Russia
for Nigeria’s opening game against Croatia on June 16.

The 64-year-old German resides in France with his family.

“I have a five year-old son who is my last born. But my eldest son and brothers will come to give me
family support,” said the coach.

This would be Rohr’s first World Cup assignment as a coach since hanging his boots 29 years
ago with French club Bordeaux, which he later managed a year after.
