Napoli coach Spalletti not expecting Mertens until October

Napoli coach Luciano Spalletti isn’t expected to see Dries Mertens until October.

Mertens is recovering from shoulder surgery and Il Mattino reports he has not started the rehabilitation.

As such, the striker isn’t expected to see action for at least another two months.

The 34 year-old’s contract with Napoli expires next summer and he is fielding interest from Inter Miami of MLS.

However, his deal does include a 12 month option.
