National Polo Tourney begins in Abuja

The 2023 edition of the annual Nigerian Polo Tournament has opened in Abuja.

This year’s week long carnival of polo enthusiasts runs through Saturday December 9, until Sunday December 17, 2023.

The Tournament manager, Mr. Muktar Adhama confirmed to Voice of Nigeria that twenty (20) teams are participating in this edition of the event.

He noted that so much progress has been made since the previous tournament, stressing that the unity of Nigeria and Nigerians is top on their priority list as organisers of the annual event.

“You can see that the pitch has improved to enable participants enjoy the carnival and in our bid to sustain the unity of our people which is our major objective. So, Whether u are from the North, East, West, or South, we all come together to enjoy this carnival because, polo is like a family game,” he added.

Voice of Nigeria also understands that, there are four categories of Cup competitions scheduled for this year’s tournament. They include; the guards challenge Cup; it’s like d beginners cup, the FCT Cup, the Legislative shields, and the President’s Cup.

In the FCT Cup challenge played on saturday, Fk3 polo defeated Valadora by six goals to one.
