Ndidi recounts his brilliant goal against Southampton

Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi has talked through his brilliant goal for Leicester City in their 4-1 triumph over Southampton last Friday at the St. Mary’s Stadium.

Ndidi got his goal in the third additional minute of the first half when he received a pass from Stephy Mavididi and dribbled past his marker before putting the ball beyond the reach of Gavin Bazunu, the Saints goalkeeper.

The 26-year-old has always been known as a good tackler but is beginning to show his attacking prowess having already registered 3 goals across all competitions for Leicester City this season.

The former Genk star has given details about his strike against Southampton on matchday 6 of the English Championship

“The body shape, you know, when Stephy had the ball, my body shape facing the goal was brilliant! Was striker instinct in it,” Ndidi  told Leicester City’s official website.

“So my body shape, I got the ball with my left foot and tried to shoot, faked it and you know what it is.”

Ndidi was linked with an exit from the one-time Premier League champions all through the summer following their relegation from the English topflight but eventually stayed at the club.

Despite the various speculations that surrounded the Nigeria international in the just-concluded transfer window, he has begun the season brilliantly, mustering 3 goals and an assist for Enzo Maresca’s side in 8 games across all competitions.
