NextFootballStars inaugural tourney thrills Founder,Myra

Founder of NextFootballStars Foundation Edike Myra, has expressed delight following the success of its inaugural tournament held at the Legacy Pitch of the National Stadium in Surulere, Lagos at the weekend. 

In an impressive display of passion and raw talent, the Blue Team emerged victorious over the Aquamarine Team after a thrilling penalty shootout while Michael Taiwo stood out as the Most Valuable Player (MVP), recognized for his exceptional contributions.

The winning team got N200, 000 cash for their effort while the runner-up picked up N100, 000. MVP Michael Taiwo received N50, 000 for his outstanding performance.

Speaking with reporters after the event, Myra said: ‘I feel fulfilled. We put a lot of effort into making this tournament happen and in the next five years we hope to put over a thousand kids on the world stage. Also giving them an academic presence that would give them the belief to become whatever they want in future.’

This event was a significant milestone, featuring the participation of over 200 enthusiastic kids from various marginalized communities and slums in Lagos. These aspiring young footballers share the dream of one day turning professional but often lack the necessary support and resources”.

The NextFootballStarsFoundation remains unwavering in its commitment to utilizing football and education as catalysts for empowering boys and girls from marginalized communities by providing them with scholarships and financial support.
