On Monday, the nine-time African champions were shown the exit from the quadrennial event by the Les Elephantes of Cote d’Ivoire but NFF’s Head of Technical Department Bitrus Bewarang has hinted about some radical changes

The former Super Eagles’ assistant coach described the Falcons ouster from the Olympic Games for the third successive times as another dark moment in the history of Nigerian Football.

Bewarang has revealed that the NFF is currently working on series of proposals to reposition female football in the country by introducing several local competitions to discover talents at the grassroots.

He added that all the women’s national teams will be restructured and assigned with experienced coaches in women football to redirect the team for greater performance.

“Look, our emphasis will be focused on the development of women’s football generally,” Bewarang said in an interview with Sportinglife.ng. “But we shall certainly give priority to the national women’s team because the Super Falcons is already a brand and we must develop it to attract sponsors.

“It is unfortunate that other countries in Africa are catching up with us and it’s very disturbing that Super Falcons hardly win matches easily as they used to do in the past. We must find solution; but I sincerely apologize to Nigerians for the Falcons exit from the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.”
