He has yet to represent Nigeria at any level. This past season, the 19-year-old Yusuf played 27 matches in the Swedish top flight, scored two goals and provided two assists.

In the summer, Premier League club Wolves were set to sign him but eventually the deal collapsed.

Yusuf also scooped the Player of the Year in Goteborg by Gothenburg Post.

The IFK Goteborg midfielder, had indicated that he could be on his way to Wanderers after being named the Swedish top flight’s Young Player of the Year, in quotes reported by Fotboll Direkt.

With two goals and two assists, Yusuf was the shining light in a difficult season for Goteborg, who finished seventh in the Allsvenskan table.

The diminutive youngster was rewarded for his all-action displays with the league’s Young Player of the Year award at the end-of-season gongs on Tuesday night and, after picking up the trophy, Yusuf admitted that his days at Goteborg may be numbered with Wolves looking to lure him to Molineux.

“Something might happen there. Let’s see,” Yusuf said when asked about a move to the Black Country.

You don’t even need to read between the lines to figure out that he is hinting, with a severe lack of subtlety, that he could be on his way to the Premier League sooner rather than later.

Aftonbladet reported recently that Wolves had sent scouts to watch Yusuf in action during an Allsvenskan clash between Goteborg and Sirius.
