Norway takes lead on final day of European Taekwon-Do Championships
The final day of competition at the 38th AETF European Taekwon-Do Championships 2024 began with Norway quickly taking the lead, tripling the gold medal tally of its six closest rivals and positioning itself as the frontrunner for the European crown.
The Norwegian team made an excellent start in the senior events. Having topped the medal table on both Friday and Saturday, Romania won two golds on Sunday morning in Lublin to temporarily challenge their dominance.
After those Romanian wins, Norway quickly returned to the top of the medal table and went into Sunday’s finale leading the adult competitions.
On Sunday morning, Mats Lind secured gold in the Individual Male Pattern 2nd Dan with Emil Kristensen making it a Norway 1-2. It was the same story in the Individual Female Sparring 70’75kg category with Helene Mb ahead of Sofie Johansen.

In the Individual Male Pattern 3rd Dan, Lars Tonder and Ingebrigt Seinkjer secured another 1-2 to give Norway a considerable advantage over their rivals.
So far, Norway has amassed 15 medals – six of them gold – on the last day of competition in south-eastern Poland. The hosts, who also have 15 medals, are second with two gold medals.
In third place, Romania are still in line for a place on the podium at the championships which bring together the best athletes from 32 of the 37 member nations. Scotland, Ireland, Slovenia and Germany follow closely behind with two golds each, albeit fewer medals in total.
