NPFL: Rangers CEO appointed patron of Sports Law Society

Young but strong shoulders of the G.M/CEO of Rangers International F.C, Barrister Amobi Ezeaku, has further been saddled with the task of being the Patron of the Sports Law Society Association of the University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus.

The executive of the association led by its president, Somtochukwu Favour Ogbodo, bestowed the task on the FIFA Masters holder at his office, on Tuesday, stressing that the young club administrator’s positive strides in football coupled with the fact that he is an alumnus of the premium law faculty in West Africa were the major reasons for approaching the CEO to be the patron of the association.

In accepting the position, Barrister Ezeaku, said, “It gives me joy to have young people with the drive and zeal to know more and make positive impact on the society. I accept to be your patron and will do my best to be a good guide towards realizing your dreams and ambitions. It is indeed an honor.”

Speaking earlier, the president of the association, Favour Ogbodo, said, “The major aim of the sports law club is to enlighten Nigerian students on the need to promote and embrace our indigenous sporting activities and also to enlighten the average female students in Nigeria on the need to do away with certain gender stereotypes and get involved in sports.”

He further said, “We also wish to keep students abreast with the relevant sports laws, sports arbitration, drawing up sports contracts, laws relating to intellectual property in sports applicable tax laws in sports, and finally the need for commercialization of sports in Nigeria and West Africa at large.

Other executives present at the installation of the patroonship, include; Anselem Chukwuma Ezenwa, vice-president, and Francis Offorkaja, secretary of the association.
