NPFL: Rangers floor Pillars as Akwa Utd cage Insurance

Rangers International sometimes dubbed Flying Antelopes were flawless in their match against Kano Pillars on Saturday, beating the Kano based side 4-1 at the Awka Stadium to secure top spot in the Nigeria Premier Football League.

 Muhammad Yakubu had shot the visitors into the lead in the 11th minute only for Rangers to level up thirteen minutes later thanks to Godwin Obaje.

Isaac Saviour gave Rangers the lead for the first time six minutes before hour mark with Innocent Saviour slotting the ball home.

Nwaodu Chukwudi scored twice to wrap up scoring for the Flying Antelopes. The players did not hesitate to thank the fans who had trooped out in their numbers to cheer them to victory.

At the Pantami Township Stadium, Sadiq Shuabu scored from the spot on the dot of 90 minutes as Gombe United defeated Plateau United 1-0.

Former champions Akwa United held Bendel Insurance to a 0-0 draw at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City.

Akwa United are still searching for their first victory this season.

Sunday will see Oriental derby with Abia Warriors taking on Heartland, Kastina United will slug it out with Sunshine stars of Akure, Bayelsa United take on Kwara United while Rivers United settle scores with Lobi Stars.
