Nwabali gets hero’s welcome at Chippa Utd for AFCON heroics

Super Eagles goalie, Stanley Nwabali, was given a hero’s welcome at South African PSL club, Chippa United on Tuesday.

The Nigerian international made his return to his base at Chippa United after his heroics at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

The 27-year-old was received by hundreds of Chippa United fans on arrival at the Port Elizabeth Airport.

Nwabali took selfies with the fans and joined them in singing the club’s songs.

“He’s Back @NwabaliBobo,” Chippa United penned on their X handle.

Nwabali impressed for Nigeria at the AFCON 2023 finals.

The former Enyimba shot-stopper received cash gifts, a national honour and was made a chief in his hometown after the competition.

Nwabali has been reportedly linked with a move away from Chippa United, with Kaizer Chiefs and Union St Gilloise at the last count.
