Okowa Postpones National Sports Festival

 

The National Sports Festival tagged Delta 2022 has been postponed. The multi-sports event which was originally billed for 2nd to 15th November 2022, has now been shifted to commence on 28th November to 10th December, 2022.

A statement signed by  Peter Nelson referenced FMYSD/NSFPS/21STNSF/SECRETARIAT/CON/1 and dated 23 September, 2022 made available to Page3news.com.ng announced the postponement of the Festival.

The statement, which was on the Festival Letterhead, was titled: NOTICE OF POSTPONMENT OF THE 21ST NATIONAL SPORTS FESTIVAL DELTA 2022, and addressed to all Commissioners of Sports and Directors of Sports

The statement in part read: “I wish to convey the request of Delta state Government to shift the date of the 21st National Sports Festival earlier scheduled to hold from 2nd to 15th November 2022, is now shifted to commence on 28th November to 10th December, 2022.

“The postponement is to give more time to complete some facilities for the festival.

“We regret any inconvenience this might have cause you.

“While thanking you all for your cooperation, Please accept the Sporting regard of the Chairman Main Organizing Committee (MOC).

The NSF this year will be the 21st edition. It will be recalled that Delta state clinched the last edition to make it six in a row.

Team Delta topped the medals table after winning 158 gold, 116 silver, and 110 bronze, while Team Edo, the host, came second with 129 gold, 104 silver and 108 bronze. Team Bayelsa finished third with 56 gold, 55 silver, and 58 bronze.
