Okoye concedes three goals to extend poor form with German club
Nigeria international, Maduka Okoye is not having the best of times with German fourth division side, Fortuna Dusseldorf after the number of goals conceded this season increased to 17.
Only last Saturday, Okoye who made his debut for Nigeria in the friendly against Brazil conceded three goals for the U-23 side of Dusseldorf against Wattenscheid 09.
A post on the keeper’s poor record with the side was posted on Twitter on Monday ahead of Nigeria’s 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Benin Republic next month.
“UPDATE ON @OkoyeMaduka @NGSuperEagles Keeper Maduka Okoye continues with his poor run of form as he conceded 3 goals against Wattenscheid 09 in the U23 German Bundesliga.
“He has now conceded 17 goals in 7 games for Fortuna Dusseldorf in the German 4th division this season,” read the tweet.
Although the post failed to state if the goals scored were caused by the keeper, it should still be a concern for Super Eagles head coach, Gernot Rohr ahead of the qualifier.

Okoye may get the nod in the absence of first-choice keeper, Francis Uzoho who is out for six months as a result of injury.
