Tunisian side, Union Sportive Monastir are turning heads in the league and are currently top of the league table after four games due largely to the contributions of Nigerian duo, Anthony Okpotu and Moses Orkuma.
US Monastir finished seventh at the end of the league last season with a paltry 31 points from 26 games but they have already garnered 10 points from four and are unbeaten in the Tunisian topflight this season.
They have picked valuable away points(four) from the two games they have played away from home against Etoile du Sahel (0-0)and Club Africain (1-0) and have maintained 100 percent record at home in the two games decided before their fans against CS Sfaxien(2-1) and Stade Tunisien.
Speaking with Sportinglife.ng from his base, Orkuma who featured for the Flying Eagles at the 2013 FIFA U20 World Cup said that the calibre of players they recruited and the preparations they had before the start of the season have made them very difficult to surmount.
He said the results they have achieved thus far have come via hard work and resilience and that they are resolved to sustain what they have started to ensure that they set their own record at the end of the season.
“It has not been easy if the truth is to be told,” Orkuma told Sportinglife.ng.
“I am happy that we are doing well even though it is just the beginning of the season. We started the season with an objective that is to perform than the team did last season.
“The players that have come in including me and the type of pre-season we have had have given us a glimpse of what to expect. We are just starting and we hope to carry on the same way until the end of the season.

“It may surprise many that we are on top of the table but it is what it is and we hope to keep them more surprised by the time the season ends.”
