Olympic legend Usain Bolt hails Alex Fergusson over CR7 return

Olympic legend Usain Bolt reserved a special word of thanks for legendary former Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson, when he met the Scotsman at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.

Bolt was among the crowd as United took on Villarreal in the second Champions League group stage match, and watched on tensely as the Red Devils looked to be on course to dropping crucial points in the competition.

It was only for a last gasp intervention from none other than Cristiano Ronaldo that United took maximum points from the clash, and an ecstatic Bolt has revealed he immediately sought to thank Ferguson for helping bring the club icon back.

Speaking to the MEN following the match, Bolt said:  ‘He [Ronaldo] helped to build the club and it was wonderful when he was here, the energy. So I’m happy he’s back.

‘I just saw Alex Ferguson inside and I thanked him for bringing Cristiano back, so I’m happy about it.’

Bolt, a self-confessed huge United fan added: ‘I’m happy to be here, I haven’t been back to Old Trafford in a while, so I’m just happy to be here in the stands with everybody to watch the game.’

Ronaldo is in a rich vein of scoring form since returning to England, with the Portugal star having already hit four goals so far.

When completing his emotional return in the summer, Ronaldo made an open tribute to Ferguson’s role in the homecoming, after the iconic boss spoke with him on a phone call.
