Onyekuru, Lokosa on standby for Bafana Bafana

Galatasaray forward Henry Onyekuru has been placed on standby for Nigeria’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against South Africa’s Bafana Bafana on November 17.

The on-loan attacker who has returned to action after injury is among the five players put on stand by head coach Gernot Rohr for the crucial game at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg.

Chidozie Awaziem of FC Porto who scored one of the Eagles goals against Seychelles in an Afcon qualifier last month is also on the list.  The trio of Nyima Nwagua of Kano Pillars, Sunday Adetunji of Enyimba and Junior Lokosa complete the list.

Rohr must have included the home based players due to the public pressure.

They would also be part of the squad for the November 20 international friendly against the Cranes of Uganda at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba.

All the invited players are expected to report direct in Asaba on Monday, 12th November.
