Oshoala’s brace inspires Barcelona to win in Primera División Femenina

 

Nigeria’s Asisat Oshoala inspired Barcelona to a comprehensive 5-0 victory over Grace Asantewaa’s Real Betis with a brace in the Primera División Femenina.

Having come off the bench in the first game of the season at home to Tenerife, the Super Falcons skipper led the line for the hosts who went for a flat 4-3-3 formation with Oshoala the focal point in attack.

With the first half almost certain to end in a stalemate, the visitors brought their wealth of experience to bare as midfielder Alexia Putellas put them ahead deep into stoppage time.

The visitors then took off exactly where they left off, with Putellas turning provider three minutes after the restart for Oshoala who made no mistake to make it 2-0 to Barcelona.

Barcelona then made it 3-0 four minutes later when Aitana Bomanti set up Mariona Caldentey before substitute Fridolina Rolfo made it 4-0 just moments after coming on.

Oshoala, who is expected to lead Nigeria’s charge at the maiden edition of the Aisha Buhari Cup in Lagos, then wrapped up the scoring for Barcelona when she made it 5-0 twenty minutes from time to hand her side a perfect start to the new season.
