Osimhen will make instant impact at Arsenal says transfer expert

Transfer expert David Ornstein has been speaking about the possibility of Arsenal signing Napoli striker Victor Osimhen. Although Ornstein revealed that he doesn’t have information regarding a move currently, he did admitted that he suspects the Nigeria international is on the recruitment list of the Gunners, who are in need of a top-class centre-forward.

Speaking during a Q&A on The Athletic, Ornstein said: “I have no information at present to suggest that but of course I suspect he is on the recruitment list of Arsenal and many other leading clubs. Should be another fascinating summer in the striker market.

“High demand, low supply Expect prices to rocket and therefore £112million for a player of his calibre might represent a ‘bargain’!”

Gunners boss Mikel Arteta has always remained coy when asked about his side’s need for a new centre-forward, something that he has consistently done during his time at the club. Back in September, when asked if he was planning on recruiting a striker in January, Arteta replied: “We’re not thinking at all about that.

“We have really good players up front. It’s true that right now we have some injuries. We will continue with the players we have.”

No decision has been made just yet whether they will act in January in regards to bringing a new striker to the club, football.london has been told.

Osimhen is now into the final year-and-a-half of his contract with Napoli, although there has been plenty of speculation that he could extend his current deal by 12 months to protect his value.

Reports have indicated that any new contract would contain a release clause of around £112million, a fee that would represent a club record for Arsenal if he was to join. Declan Rice, who joined the Gunners for £105million in the summer, is currently the north Londoners’ most expensive-ever signing.

Osimhen ticks all the boxes for Arsenal. Aged 23, he is still very young with lots of room to continue his development. However, he is also not too raw.

The Nigeria international would provide an instant impact at the Emirates and the prospect of a front three consisting of himself, Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli represents a mouth-watering scenario for Gunners supporters.

It will of course be a very difficult deal to pull off, but Osimhen seems like the perfect fit to take the north Londoners to the next level.
