Paris 2024: Morocco, Nigeria, South Africa, Zambia to contest Paris 2024 spots

Last four teams standing to contest for the two spots reserved for Africa at the Paris 2024 Olympics have been confirmed.

Morocco, Nigeria, South Africa and Zambia, who interestingly are the four teams that represented Africa at the last FIFA Women’s World Cup are the final four remaining in contention for a place in Paris later this year.

The Super Falcons secured their place in the final round after overcoming Cameroon 1-0 in a two-legged affair, while reigning African champions, South Africa master-minded a 4-0 aggregate win over Tanzania to set up a meeting with Nigeria.

On Wednesday evening, Ghana were in a pulsating battle against Ghana.

Following a slim 1-0 away win, the Copper Queens played host to the Black Queens in Ndola where a late strike by the ever-green Barba Banda gave the Zambians a 3-3 draw that saw them advance 4-3 on aggregate.

In a north African battle, Morocco outclassed Tunisia 4-1 after initially edging their opponents 2-1 in Tunis a few days ago. The result sees Morocco, who made their FIFA World Cup debut in the recent edition now in a good position to achieve another global competition qualification feat.

The final round of qualifiers will see South Africa facing Nigeria, while Zambia will take on Morocco in two-legged fixtures between 01 – 09 April 2024.
