Paulo Dybala’s ‘dream’ transfer admission amid Man Utd speculation

Paulo Dybala’s ‘dream’ transfer admission has spelt bad news for Manchester United if they wish to sign the forward this summer.

Sky Sports has reported that Dybala will leave Juventus at the end of his contract. The 28-year-old’s agent and the Serie A club are believed to have failed to reach an agreement over a new deal and the Argentine is looking set to exit the club.

With this news has come inevitable speculation that Dybala may be on his way to the Theatre of Dreams, with United currently on the lookout for a striker as a replacement for Edinson Cavani. But if the current Juve striker is to be their guy, they will need to convince him to turn his back on his ‘dream’ — according to his past comments.

Speaking in 2015, Dybala made the following comments to Guerin Sportivo via the Daily Express. He explained: “When I play with the PlayStation, I always choose Barcelona or Manchester City. I dream to play one day with one of those clubs.”

United were linked with a move for Dybala in the summer of 2019 after they sold Romelu Lukaku to Inter Milan, but opted against a move. He ended up staying at Juventus, amid links to Tottenham as well.

In 29 appearances for the Old Lady this season, Dybala has scored 13 goals. He made a goalscoring return to the first team on Sunday in a 2-0 victory over Salernitana in Serie A.
