Pep Guardiola is considering making Ederson Man City’s regular penalty taker.
Ilkay Gundogan became the third City player to miss from the spot this season in Sunday’s 4-1 win at Liverpool.
Gundogan skied his penalty, before going on to score twice at Anfield
Kevin De Bruyne and Raheem Sterling have also blundered from 12 yards with City failing to convert a EIGHT penalties since the start of last season.
The club’s top two spot-kick takers, Sergio Aguero and De Bruyne, are also both currently injured,
and Guardiola has revealed City goalkeeper Ederson could solve the club’s penalty woes.
The City boss said: “He has to save them also, then after we see what happens.
“It depends on the players. Sergio [Aguero]’s not fit, Kevin is an incredibly good taker but is unfortunately not fit yet.
Ederson has expressed his desire to take Man City’s penalties in the past
“A penalty taker has to be the personality with huge confidence in himself.”
Ederson, who has kept 13 Premier League clean sheets this season, has previously claimed he is the best penalty taker at Man City.
Last November, he said: “I don’t train much free-kicks. I trained penalties and when I played for Ribeirao I took some free-kicks but that is in the past now.
“I am the best penalty taker but I am not chosen to take them!
“The most important thing is that we score goals and win the game.”
