Player ratings: Iwobi shines despite Eagles exit 

Algeria beat Nigeria 2-1 at the Cairo International stadium to qualify for the final of the 32nd Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Egypt.

Daniel Akpeyi

Akpeyi was unconvincing early in the game but made up with a fantastic block to prevent Baghdad Bounedjah from scoring. His poor positioning was at fault for the winner. 4/10

Kenneth Omeuro

The Chelsea defender made a top draw interception in the first 15 minutes to deny the Algerians but he made two errors that almost caused the Super Eagles. 5/10

William-Troost Ekong

The Udinese man was unlucky to concede the own goal that gave Algeria a first half lead. He put in a good shift for the rest of the match. 5/10

Chidozie Awaziem

The FC Porto defender is yet to be dribbled so far in the tournament and remained solid. 5/10

Jamilu Collins

Playing his second match of the tournament he almost scored an audacious own goal when he desperately tried to prevent Bounedjah from scoring. His clearance beat Akpeyi but came off the woodwork. Overrall, Collins had a decent game. 5/10

 Oghenekaro Etebo

The Stoke City star was strong in midfield for Nigeria, won a lot of tackles and ran his socks off. 6/10

Wilfred Ndidi

Ndidi was energetic in midfield but conceded the freekick from which Riyad Mahrez scored the winning goal. 5/10

Alex Iwobi

The Arsenal midfielder was the most creative outlet for the Super Eagles and had a good game. 6.5/10

Samuel Chukwueze

The Villarreal sensation did not have his best game and was closed down everytime he had the ball. 5/10

Ahmed Musa

Musa like Chukwueze did not have his best game. He wasn’t allowed space to show his pace like he did against South Africa. 4.5/10

Odion Ighalo

It was a poor game from the Shanghai Shenhua despite scoring a penalty. 4/10

Substitutes

Henry Onyekuru

The Everton forward was the only substitution for the Super Eagles. He made his AFCON debut but it wasn’t as planned as Nigeria lost. 4/10
