Porto and Covilhã to host European University Championships 2027

Portugal will host two European University Championships (EUC) in 2027; football and table tennis. In a press release on 3 May, the Federação Académica do Desporto Universitário (FADU) announced that the European University Sports Association (EUSA) has officially attributed the organisation of two championships to the cities of Porto and Covilhã.

The city of Porto —in joint candidacy with the Porto Academic Federation, the Porto Polytechnic, and the University of Porto— was selected for the 2027 European University Football Championship. This will be the second time that UNESCO World Heritage Site will host the football competition; first in 2017 and also hosted beach volleyball in 2013 and 3×3 basketball in 2019.
