United’s rivals, Manchester City, had been heavily linked with the 36-year-old, who made it clear to Juventus he wanted to leave.

Ronaldo bolsters a squad that has already seen Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane arrive this summer.

Attention has now turned to what shirt number the five-time Ballon d’Or winner will don in his second coming.
