PSG ready to dole out £26m-a-year for Mbappe

Paris Saint-Germain are  preparing to offer Kylian Mbappe a staggering £26m-a-year contract in order to fend off interest from Liverpool and Real Madrid.

The French champions are yet to come to an agreement over Mbappe’s future, with the 22-year-old’s existing deal at the Parc des Princes due to expire in 18 months’ time and talks over a renewal still failing to bear fruit.

Amid the former Monaco man’s uncertain contract situation, Liverpool and Real Madrid are both being tipped to swoop for the forward this summer, but financial powerhouses PSG could offer the big bucks in a bid to keep him in the French capital.

According to L’Equipe, Mauricio Pochettino’s side are willing to fork out €30m (£26m) per year as part of a lucrative new contract – wages that Liverpool would certainly not be able to afford.

The report adds that such a mammoth salary could persuade Mbappe to remain in his native France, but the World Cup-winning striker is not purely motivated by money and will consider all his options carefully before deciding on his next career move.

Mbappe struck his 27th and 28th goals of the season in a resounding 3-0 triumph over Lille in the Coupe de France on Wednesday evening.
