Pushing hard is the way to go -Randy, Oshoala

Still basking in the euphoria of their impressive comeback in 3-3 draw against Portugal in the ongoing American Summer  series, Super Falcons coach Randy Waldrum and team captain Asisat Oshoala say pushing hard even while down remains the way to go for the team.

The duo were full of praise for the team after the girls posted a breath-taking run coming back twice to equalise against Portugal to the surprise and delight of fans at the venue.

Addressing the players during post match in the dressing room Coach Randy said

“You guys were wonderful came back in the game stayed on and kept pushing and pushing it is an indication this is a very good team. There is still a lot to work on and we will continue there. But we have shown we have a team that can fight back and we are always in the game till the last result.

Oshoala on her part insists there is so much in the team “First thing is I am proud of everybody here. We don’t know what we have but people out there kept cheering us because we kept on pushing even when we were 3-2 down.

Falcons lost the first match by a lone goal against Reggae Girls of Jamaica on Thursday with some of their key players missing.

The team meeting and working with their new coach Randy Waldrum for the first time however vowed afterwards to make amends.

With the joining of key players including Barcelona ace and Champions League winner Assisat Oshola the team faced an equally determined Portugal in the early hours of Monday coming from behind twice to settle for a 3-3 draw against Portugal.

Falcons who would want to beat their chest to say they played three matches lost one drew one and won one will however need to double effort as they face United States next at the Q2 Stadium in Austin, Texas.
