Raducanu won’t stop hiring and firing coaches declares Agent

Emma Raducanu will continue her approach of hiring and firing coaches as she has done for most of her career thus far, according to the tennis star’s agent, Max Eisenbud.

The 20-year-old British star is currently recovering from wrist and ankle surgery that saw her miss the French Open and Wimbledon this summer, but she’s back in the gym as she speeds up her recovery.

Raducanu emerged as one of the surprising Grand Slam champions in 2021 when she triumphed at the US Open as an 18-year-old ranked 150 in the world and has continued to change coaches frequently ever since.

As her star status soared, Raducanu and her team, swapped coaches with Nigel Sears, Andrew Richardson, Torben Beltz, Dmitry Tursunov and most recently Sebastian Sachs, all working with the rising star over the past two years.

The Canadian-born athlete has received criticism for this approach, but her agent explained that it is something that will not change in the future.

“The training situation, right or wrong, and this is something that his father and Emma largely control in the whole training thing, that’s been his philosophy up until the juniors,” Eisenbud told the media. tennis podcast.

‘They never had coaches for a long time. You’ve probably heard of it. For them that’s calm waters, having a coach for five months and moving on to another.

“That’s not traditional and it’s not the norm for most to win a Grand Slam and change coaches,” he added

Eisenbud went on to explain that this was an approach taken throughout the women’s game, noting how Raducanu benefited from ending her player-coach relationship with Sears before winning in the United States.

Raducanu has yet to decide who will be in charge of working with her behind the scenes once she is able to play again, but her agent insisted that “people need to get over” the coaching changes.
