RB Leipzig take Leeds cash row to FIFA

RB Leipzig have not dropped their cash row with Leeds United.

The Athletic says FIFA has been asked to rule on the transfer row between RB Leipzig and Leeds after the latter chose not to sign Jean-Kevin Augustin on a permanent deal in the summer.

Leeds signed Augustin on loan in January. The deal would become permanent if they were promoted to the Premier League before June. Leeds were indeed promoted to the English top-flight, but due to lockdown, it was after the agreed-upon date.

After they aborted the permanent transfer, which is thought to be worth £18million, Augustin signed with Nantes after neither Leipzig nor Leeds claimed his rights.

A FIFA spokesperson said: “FIFA can confirm that it has received a claim from RB Leipzig against Leeds United. The matter is currently still being investigated and consequently we cannot provide any further comments.”
