Real Madrid and Ramos contract extension talks stall

After saying goodbye to the Champions League recently, Real Madrid are going into their final three games of the season looking to win La Liga. They need Atletico Madrid to slip up.

However, apart from the title race, there is something else which concerns the club a lot: the future of their captain Sergio Ramos.

The defender’s contract expires at the end of the current season and negotiations between both parties, which have been in the news for months, seem to have hit a road block.

Neither the defender or Real Madrid can reach an agreement. Ramos wants a two year deal while the club are only giving him one.

Madrid do not want to offer him more than 12 months. He is now 35 and he has had his most injury hit campaign this season. He has made just 21 appearances in 2020-21.

With clubs like PSG and Man Utd on the horizon, Ramos’ time in the capital seems to be coming to an end and as each day passes, it looks like Sergio Ramos and Real Madrid will part company.
