Return of the Saint

Thomas Tuchel has targeted a return as Chelsea boss when he leaves Bayern Munich in the summer, but the German coach is also interested in Manchester United and Barcelona.

German manager Thomas Tuchel is reportedly considering a return to Chelsea during the upcoming summer, as per recent reports. The 50-year-old tactician was dismissed from his position by Todd Boehly in September 2022, just a few months after Boehly’s takeover of the club.

Following his departure from Chelsea, Tuchel assumed the managerial role at Bayern Munich in March of the following year. However, it has been officially confirmed that he will be parting ways with the German club at the conclusion of the current season.

Now, with Tuchel poised to be without a managerial position, sources suggest that he has his sights set on a return to the Premier League. German outlet Bild indicates that Tuchel would be receptive to a comeback to Stamford Bridge, provided he and Boehly can resolve any lingering differences from their previous working relationship.

Before Tuchel’s departure from Chelsea, reports highlighted a strained relationship between him and Boehly. The 50-year-old American owner’s actions, such as attempting to showcase the home dressing room to guests during a crucial half-time team talk, contributed to the tense dynamic.

Interestingly, by the end of the last season, internal discussions within the Chelsea hierarchy reportedly acknowledged that parting ways with Tuchel might have been an oversight. According to reports from that period, Tuchel was allegedly owed a severance pay of 16.7 million dollars.
