Robinson to Arsenal:Sign Ramos in your own interest

Arsenal have been encouraged to sign Benfica and Portugal striker Goncalo Ramos amid reports linking him with a move to Manchester United.

The Gunners have been dealt a significant blow ahead of the return of the Premier League.

Gabriel Jesus has suffered a serious knee injury that is going to leave him out for a couple of months.

The forward joined Arsenal for around £45m in the summer from Premier League rivals Manchester City.

Jesus has been out of the goals in the weeks leading up to the World Cup but his contributions in games have been invaluable as he has helped to get te best out of Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli.

His injury leaves Arsenal with Eddie Nketiah as the obvious candidate to come into the team, but some have called for Martinelli to be given a chance up front.

It has already been reported that Arsenal are not intending to sign a new striker in January as it is instead their priority to sign a new centre-midfielder and winger.

But ex-Premier League goalkeeper Paul Robinson thinks Arsenal should “go and sign” Goncalo Ramos.

Ramos has boosted his reputation by scoring a hat-trick for Portugal in the World Cup knockout stages.

90min are reporting that Manchester United, Newcastle United and PSG were interested in the 21-year-old during the summer.

But Robinson reckons Ramos would be an ideal addition as “they need to look at that position” in January.

“Arsenal have Eddie Nketiah as their striker now with Gabriel Jesus injured for months, it’s now Nketiah’s opportunity to step up and take that position,” Robinson told OLBG.

“But if he struggles, it will be an area they have to address in January. If they have the budget, they should go sign a player like Goncalo Ramos, they need to look at that position.
