Rohr: Only Mikel can decide Eagles return
Super Eagles manager, Gernot Rohr has revealed that the future of Mikel Obi in the national team can only be decided by the player.
The Eagles head coach while speaking to Kwese ESPN said the player who was dropped from the list of invited players for the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against South Africa was on a sabbatical.
”Mikel told me that he will tell me when he will be ready to come back. He didn’t tell me yet. So I wait,” said Rohr to Kwese ESPN.
“I hope that we can go with him to AFCON and win it for him.”Mikel last wore a Super Eagles jersey in their 2-1 loss to Argentina in a group game at the 2018 World Cup.
Tongues began to wag since Monday when the team list went public with the Eagles captain not included, after giving his word that he would be available for selection after missing the country’s last three matches.
