Rohr: Simy will make my 35-man list

Super Eagles manager, Gernot Rohr has confirmed to SportingLife.ng that Crotone forward Simeon Nwankwo will make the 35-man squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

The German tactician is currently combing Europe for strikers as only Odion Ighalo and Kelechi Iheanacho looked to have impressed him with less than two months to the Mundial in Russia.

Nwankwo is a target man that suits the profile of players Rohr wants and his recent goals against Serie A champions Juventus, Udinese and Sassuolo has further convinced the former Burkina Faso manager to invite him to the national team.

‘l have been watching him and we can’t pretend that he is not doing well. He is good enough to be on the 35-man list,’ Rohr revealed when asked about the possibility of Simy making the 35-man provision list of the Super Eagles.

‘If he continues to play the way he is doing then there’s a possibility of him going to the World Cup with us.

‘But I want to make clear that players that qualified us for the World Cup will be considered first.’

Nigeria play in Group D alongside Croatia, Iceland and two-time World Cup winners Argentina.
