Coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria Gernot Rohr is under pressure to drop Leon Balogun for Kenneth Omeruo who has been impressive for La Liga side Leganes lately.
Balogun has been playing second fiddle to the duo of Shane Duffy and Lewis Dunk with Premier League side Brighton, and has only made just two appearances since he joined from Bundesliga side Main 05 this season.
This has not gone down well with critics who feel Rohr should consider Omeruo who last played in the last five games for La Liga side Leganes for this Saturday’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against South Africa at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg. They want him to partner William Troost-Ekong in the heart of the Nigeria defence.
Balogun’s form was a cause for concern for the coach in both games against Libya last month and many pointed to his lack of game time at Brighton as the reason behind the dip in his form.
