Ronaldo: Giggs reveals one Man United teammate better than Juve star

Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs insists Paul Scholes, not Cristiano Ronaldo, is the best player he ever played with at Old Trafford.

The Welshman hung up his boots in 2014 after an illustrious career at the Theatre of Dreams that started in 1990.

Cristiano Ronaldo won eight trophies at Manchester United

Giggs is the most decorated player in English football history and won an astonishing 13 Premier League titles during his time in the north-west.

The most successful period coincided with Ronaldo’s six-year stint at Old Trafford and the pair won three league titles, one Champions League, one FA Cup, two League Cups and a Club World Cup together.

Ronaldo is widely considered the finest player in Premier League history but Giggs insists Scholes’ performances over a longer period give him the edge of the Portuguese.

‘He’s [Scholes] probably the best United player that I played with,’ Giggs told Premier League Productions.

‘People always ask “who’s the best player you’ve played with” and probably [ability-wise] Cristiano for what he’s gone on to do with Real Madrid, Juventus and Portugal but the best United player I played with was Scholesey for all the reasons I’ve just given you.

‘There was no other player like him. I felt on my day that I could do what most footballers could do but I could never do what Scholesey did.’

‘I think when Scholesey first got promoted he as pretty quiet and let his football do the talking but you always wanted to be on Scholesey’s team in possession and usually in games as well. ‘As soon as Scholesey got the ball and turned you made a run, he didn’t even need to look. He’d be playing the ball exactly where you’d want it.’
