Ronaldo struggles on return from suspension in Saudi

Cristiano Ronaldo’s return to the Al Nassr starting lineup following a one-match suspension proved to be a night to forget for the 39-year-old superstar.

Ronaldo, who was banned by the Saudi Pro League for a bizarre celebration in a previous match, made his comeback against Al Khaleej.

However, the Portuguese forward endured a frustrating outing, missing no fewer than three clear-cut chances and being caught offside on two occasions.

Despite Ronaldo’s profligacy in front of goal, Al Nassr’s blushes were ultimately saved by former Manchester City defender Laporte, whose second-half header proved to be the decisive goal in the 1-0 victory.

The win marked Al Nassr’s sixth successive triumph in the league, allowing them to reduce the gap between themselves and leaders Al Hilal, who have a game in hand.

Ronaldo and his Al Nassr teammates will need to find a way to consistently convert their chances if they are to catch up with the league leaders and secure a coveted championship.

The spotlight will now be firmly on the former Manchester United and Juventus star as he looks to rediscover his scoring touch and help propel Al Nassr to glory in the Saudi Pro League.
