Lawal Hammed of Kamlat Boxing Club’s impressive performance on Saturday won him the best boxer of the month award at the 104th edition of Monthly Saturday Boxing Show at the Mobolaji Johnson Sports Hall, Rowe-Park, Yaba.
Hammed was voted the best boxer by the Referees and Judges of Lagos State Amateur Boxing Association, out of the 20 pugilists that fought in ten bouts fought.
The premier amateur boxing competition organized by the Lagos State Boxing Hall of Fame in partnership with the Lagos State Amateur Boxing Association saw brawny Hammed pummel Shittu Afolabi of Kalisto Boxing Club to win the 49kg contest by third round knock out.
The 56kg contest between Saheed Abdulahi of Possible Boxing Club and Ismail Isa of Metallic Boxing Club saw Abdulahi, fighting in the red corner knock out Isa in the third round. Omole Dolapo from Tiger Boxing Club, fighting in the 52kg weight category outclassed Jimoh Nosiru of Olu-Omo Boxing Club, scoring a 5-0 unanimous victory.
The 60kg weight category saw Gladiator Boxing Club’s Folorunsho Kuyoro, fighting in the red corner, beat Ajose Akinola of Olu-Omo Boxing Club with a 5-0 unanimous victory.
The second 56kg weight category bout had Ibrahim Agbalaya of Ola Akin Boxing Club beat Muburak Popoola of Lion Boxing Club while Ikimo Jinad of Star Boxing Club lost her 51kg contest to Shukura Kareem of Brightest Boxing Club by a 1-4 split decision.
The Female 69kg category saw Tomiwa Sadiku of Tiger Boxing Club knocked out Oraekwe Blessing of Brightest Boxing Club in the second round while the last bout of the day had Esheta Ifeanyi of Champion Boxing Club outbox Segun Adeyemi of Smart Boxing Club trading punches in the 64kg category, scoring a 5-0 unanimous victory.
