Serie A: Milan ace Tomori ready to explode again

Fikayo Tomori feels ready to get back to action ahead of Milan’s Serie A clash against Sampdoria.

The 24-year-old English defender has missed the last four weeks after having surgery on the meniscus in his left knee. He picked up the injury in the Rossoneri’s 3-1 Coppa Italia victory over Genoa last month, but now he is fit enough to return to action.

Speaking to Sky Sports Italia ahead of Milan’s match against Sampdoria, Tomori discussed his physical condition and the importance of maintaining momentum.

“I feel good. It was an easy and quick operation, I am ready to get back on the field and help the team.

“We know this is an important game, especially after the derby and the Coppa Italia against Lazio, but we must keep the sensations of the last two matches and carry them forward.

“The derby is the derby! It’s a very strong emotion, a very important game for the table too. As I said, we need to keep this feeling going into the next matches.”

The 24-year-old Tomori, who is contracted to Milan until 2025, has made 24 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 1928 minutes. In that time, he has scored one goal and helped the side keep seven clean sheets.

Milan can rise to the top of the Serie A table with a win over Sampdoria this afternoon, following Inter’s 1-1 draw with Napoli yesterday.
