Serie A: Napoli return to training next week

Napoli have officially announced that the team is returning to training next Wednesday, despite the appeals of the AIC to wait until April.

Napoli are set to return to training on March 25 over a week before Italy’s lockdown ends

The club announced late this evening that on Wednesday March 25 they will return to training at the Castel Volturno for a morning session.

President Aurelio De Laurentiis, along with Lazio patron Claudio Lotito were reportedly the only two sides in the Italian top flight that wanted to return their respective sides to training before the April 4 date.

April 3 is the final day of the current government decree in which the lockdown of the entire country ceases.

Their demands were reportedly the cause of arguments between the pair and Juventus President Andrea Agnelli at a league meeting last week, who took exception and wanted every side to respect the law.

AIC President, Damiano Tommasi, also discussed the issue earlier today.

Tommasi believed that resuming training before April 3 “was dangerous” to the health of the players.

Serie A is likely to not resume until early May, pending developments with the Coronavirus.
