Serie A: We had players I could push to the limit, says Mourinho

AS Roma coach Jose Mourinho has recalled winning the Treble with Inter Milan.

Mourinho insists if he had rejected Real Madrid then Inter would’ve won the Champions League a second time with him in charge.

He said: “If we lose we’re out, if we draw we’re still alive but we have to get a result in Barcelona. I remember that I had said that at the end of the game we shouldn’t cry or stand with our hands in our faces, what we were doing from an emotional point of view was nothing.

“I told my parents that we would return happy or dead of tiredness, not dead of regrets and all these stories here. We risked everything, when we scored we could have settled for a draw and played it all in Barcelona, but the inertia was there and when there is inertia it plays a very important part in football.

“Sometimes we coaches act like phenomena, but sometimes things happen because you make them happen, you have good players with personality, players who you could press to the limits and they always responded to you. If I had stayed another 2-3 years with that team, we would have won more than one Champions League as Marco Materazzi always says.”
