Shooting, Remo draw opening games ValueJet in Pre-Season tourney

Shooting Stars FC were held to a 1-1 draw with home side Beyond Limits Football Academy in the 2023 ValueJet Cup Pre-Season Tournament, while Remo Stars also drew 1-1 with Kwara United as both sides got their campaign underway.

In the opening Group B match of the annual competition at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne, the Ibadan-based Shooting Stars fell behind after 16 minutes of play following Onyebuchi Obasi’s goal. The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side struggled to cope with the amateur side and they soon conceded a penalty kick.

But goalkeeper Darlington Ovunda saved the second half penalty kick, ensuring Shooting Stars were still in the game. However, Shooting Stars equalised through Kayode Oke after heading home a cross from the left flank by defender Vitalis Imbah.

The match finished 1-1 and Shooting Stars will now face Abia Warriors in their next Group B match.

Remo Stars 1-1 Kwara United

Earlier on Friday, Nigeria Premier Football League side Remo Stars of Ikenne were also in action.

Remo Stars had also drawn 1-1 with Kwara United of Ilorin in their Group A match.
