Solskjaer: Henderson has shot at replacing De Gea as Man Utd No1

Manchester United boss, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, believes Dean Henderson has a shot at replacing David de Gea in Premier League matches.

For Sunday’s meeting with Newcastle, Solskjaer must make an increasingly difficult decision between his two goalkeepers after Henderson took over from De Gea against Sociedad and kept his third clean sheet in four games.

“Of course Dean is in with a shout,” said the United manager.

“Dean was very solid (against Sociedad) – good kicking, he was clean in his handling and clean with his short passes. It was a good performance and he is maturing all the time.

“But I have a very very good goalkeeper in David and he saved us against West Brom so I can’t say to you now.

“I always speak to the players first before I say who’s not playing, they’ll know.”
