Song Confesses: Eagles were a solid side, can win AFCON
Cameroon Coach Rigobert Song says he will not be surprised if the Super Eagles this year’s AFCON and by so doing realise their dream of clinching the title for the fourth time. Song who watched as his Indomitable lions were unfortunately dominated and shown the door by Super Eagles following a 2-0 win admitted that the Jose Peseiro tutored side has what it takes to clinch win the 34th edition of the Nations Cup ongoing in Ivory Coast.

Throughout the closely contested encounter, the four-time champions were outperformed by their opponents.
Despite failing to score a goal throughout the entire duration of the game, Song commended the Super Eagles for their performance and acknowledged their potential to succeed in the competition.
As a former defender himself, Song remained optimistic about his team’s capabilities to progress further in the tournament.
Rigobert Song insists Eagles can clinch the title in Cote d Ivoire.
“Nigeria played a good game. They are a solid side and they proved that against us. Congratulations to them,” Song said after the game.
“We are a young team, still in a rebuilding process. We made a couple of mistakes which is normal with a young team like ours.
“Nigeria has always been a favourite, and I think they have the quality to win the competition.”
The Eagles will battle regular customers Palancra Negras of Angola on Friday for a place in the Quarterfinals. Nigeria and Angola have clash a record 10 times in all categories of competition including friendlies with Nigeria winning three times, pulling a draw on five occasions and losing twice.

The last encounter was in the Championship for African Nations (CHAN), tournament reserved exclusively for players plying their trade in the African league in 2018 with the Eagles winning 2-1.
In that match under former Coach Gernot Rohr, played in Tangiers Morocco, Angola shot into the lead in the 55th minute but in the 90th minute Anthony Okpotu equalised for the Eagles and in the 109th minute of added time Gabriel Okechukwu sealed the match for the Eagles in that quarterfinal encounter.
