South Africa 2010: I still get messages for my miss–Aiyegbeni

Former Super Eagles striker, Yakubu Aiyegbeni is still alarmed at the number of messages that he has continued to receive for the goal he missed against the Korea Republic at the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.

Yakubu who felt bad for missing an open goal from three yards in the last Group game says he can’t understand why people were yet to forget the incident.

“I felt bad when I missed it but people still talk about it.

“I have always done my best to help the country but it’s weird that people still send me messages till date even on social media about that miss,” he was quoted on Twitter by freelance sports writer and BBC broadcaster, Oluwashina Okeleji.

Despite the miss, Aiyegbeni later went on to score a penalty which earned Nigeria a 2–2 draw, but it was not enough for his side to progress out of the group stages.
