Sturridge quits Mikel Obi’s Trabzonspor

Former Liverpool striker, Daniel Sturridge, has parted ways with Turkish club Trabzonspor, where Nigerian duo John Mikel Obi and Anthony Nwakaeme also ply their trade.

Sturridge’s contract termination was announced in a statement released by Trabzonspor.

“The professional footballer contract signed between our company and our professional footballer Daniel Andre Sturridge, dated 21.08.2019 and ending 31.05.2021 has been mutually terminated.

“In accordance with the termination agreement, the football player gave up all his forward-looking rights and receivables.”

Sturridge, 30, joined Trabzonspor in the summer following his release from Liverpool and has since scored seven goals in 13 appearances.

He is now a free agent and will be able to sign for a team outside of the current transfer window.

Sturridge started his career at Manchester City before having spells with Chelsea, Bolton, Liverpool and West Brom.

During his six-and-a-half season spell with Liverpool, Sturridge scored 67 goals in 160 appearances and formed a formidable partnership with Luis Suarez.
