Super Eagles’ invitation: Hope not lost on Tomori

There are underground moves to convince Chelsea central defender Fikayo Tomori to still play for the Super Eagles of Nigeria despite being invited by England’s Coach to play for the Three Lions of England recently.

England’s coach Gareth Southgate invited both Chelsea stars who are of Nigeria decent striker Tammy Abraham and Fikayo Tomori for the very first time for Euro 2020 qualifiers against the Czech Republic and Bulgaria.

While Abraham was capped playing few minutes, Tomori did not taste action at all in both matches played on October 11th and 14th.

The exclusion of Tomori in the said matches has given the Nigeria Football Federation the hopes and inspirations to launch for the umpteenth time for Tomori to rescind his decision and change allegiance and play for Nigeria.

According to the General Secretary of the Nigeria Football Federation, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, the NFF President Amaju Pinnick is working hard to woo Tomori to play for the Super Eagles.

“On Fikayo Tomori, the NFF President will never rest until he gets Bukayo Saka, Fikayo Tomori and other Nigerian stars doing well abroad to pledge their allegiance to play for the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

“I can also assure you that he is doing everything humanly possible to make sure that these sets of players that we have done very well in their various clubs outside the country pledge their loyalty to Nigeria”, Sanusi
disclosed to Sportinglife.ng in Abuja.
