Super League: Real Madrid president Florentino slams UEFA

Real Madrid president, Florentino Perez, has declared the Super League remains on track.

Florentino insists European football needs a new competition.

He said, “The Super League’s goal is to modernise football. Uefa, on the other hand, by ‘reshaping’ the format of the Champions League, has done the exact opposite.

“Why would you want to deprive the fans of so many fascinating matches? Nadal and Federer have faced each other more than 40 times, Nadal and Djokovic well 59: and do you think people are bored?

“Instead Real Madrid and Liverpool have played against each other only 9 times in 67 years.

“The president of the club association (PSG’s Nasser al-Khelaifi) said that Real Madrid wants to launch the Super League for fear of competition. So we must remind him what Real is: the most successful club in history!”
