Taekwondo Federation Considers Tokyo as Training Base for 2020 Olympics

The Nigeria Taekwondo Federation is eyeing an open offer from Tokyo 2020 organizers to make its training camp in Tokyo, ahead of the Olympics.

The offer, which was relayed through the Federal Ministry of Youths and Sports, informed the Federation that some cities in Japan had offered free usage of their training facilities by Nigeria’s Athletes during foreign Training Camp of the team for the Tokyo 2020 Games.

The offer was for sports that are participating in both in Paralympic and Olympic Games.

Some Members of the Nigeria Taekwondo Federation with the Korean Ambassador and Kukkiwon Demonstration Team during the last Korean Ambassador’s Cup.Nonetheless, the Federation will be first keen to qualify its athletes for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games for the opportunity to be valid.

A total of four athletes, including two male and two females, can qualify at the Tokyo 2020 qualification tournament for Africa taking place between 21 – 22 February 2019 in Rabat Morocco
