Tottenham desperate for Genk striker Onuachu as back-up for Kane

Tottenham Hotspur have joined the bidding war for Genk star, Paul Onuachu, in their search for a potential Harry Kane back-up.

That is according to the Daily Mail, who report that Spurs will have to overcome the likes of Atletico Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, Southampton and West Ham.

The same report suggests that the North Londoners’ rivals Arsenal have already made enquiries for Onuachu.

The Premier League giants will also have to reach an agreement with the Belgian side, who rate the 6ft 7in striker at around £20million.

Atletico are said to be among the frontrunners for the centre-forward’s signature but it seems like he prefers a move to the Prem.

Tottenham are on the lookout for a back-up to Kane, who expressed his desire to leave last summer.

The England captain was approached by Manchester City but the Prem champions failed to meet his asking price.

The 28-year-old has a contract until 2024 but his future still appears uncertain amid a shaky campaign that has seen him scoring just once in seven Premier League matches.

Tottenham are reportedly keeping tabs on Fiorentina star Dusan Vlahovic as well but are facing intense competition from Juventus.

That is why they are also eyeing Onuachu, who has been in stellar form so far this term.

The Nigeria international has already netted 11 goals in 15 appearances across all competitions for Genk.

The 27-year-old joined the Belgian outfit in 2019 following an impressive seven-year stint at Midtjylland.

The Nigerian has since registered a whopping 56 goals and seven assists in 84 matches.
