Tottenham eliminated from Europa Conference League

Tottenham Hotspur are out of the Europa Conference League after Uefa ruled they ‘forfeited’ their clash with Rennes.

The match was axed by Spurs after a Covid-19 outbreak swept across their squad.

Tottenham were keen to get the match rearranged, needing a win to advance to the next round, according to The Sun report.

But no compromise could be found, with Rennes being awarded a 3-0 win by default.

This means that Vitesse advance to the next phase and will face Rapid Vienna, after they beat NS Mura on matchday six.

The outbreak affected nine first-team players and five members of the coaching staff – as well as sweeping through the Under-23 side.

With more cases being identified each day, Spurs decided to call off the match.

The matter angered Rennes, who had travelled to London by the time the match was called off.
